From rags to riches, or should we say rubbles to riches, Tacloban showed a quick blossoming after its demise from super typhoon Haiyan. Soon after the typhoon came and left, old and new businesses rose and hoped to make their mark on the island of Leyte. The Oriental Hotel & Resorts of the LYK Group of Companies was one of the many that sought to embrace the redevelopment of its hotel chain in Leyte.

The Oriental Leyte, standing in Baras, Palo, re-opened its doors in October 2016 to the public where visitors can once again immerse in an Eastern Asian-themed, luxurious getaway. With the resort facing the beach of Leyte Gulf, finding tranquility isn’t a problem.

The Oriental Leyte’s famed infinity pool by the beach is only one of the three pools available for swimming and leisure. Get an extra dose of vitamin sea as it overlooks the ocean! While the little ones romp in the kids’ room, guests can bop at the hotel’s KTV rooms. Afterward, they can find themselves on a quick trip to the spa or the gym.

Having cravings for Filipino cuisine wouldn’t be a problem as the hotel offers oriental flavors in their in-house restaurant, Samsara. Served in a buffet style, you can choose among the many dishes, and then enjoy the fire show-the restaurant’s personal touch of spice. At night, take pleasure in sipping your favorite drink at the hotel’s Sand Bar.

The Oriental Leyte boasts of its accessibility to hot sites in both Leyte and Samar; and with the hotel’s van rental service, hopping over to Kalanggam Island or Sohoton Cave will be a breeze!

The Oriental Leyte is a 15-minute drive from Tacloban City. Guests may opt to use the hotel’s complimentary shuttle ride to and from the airport.
